Travel Link is committed to responsible tourism and works hard to ensure that the country visitors see is not affected in a negative way by the growth in tourism. One of the ways we do this is by supporting the village of Tallatast, situated at an altitude of 1100 metres above sea level about 1.5 hours drive from Marrakech. The inhabitants of the village are extremely poor and live from subsistence farming and goat breeding as well as selling their traditionally made plain pottery. They fire their pottery by cutting wood and rare bushes that grow in the area to make the fire and this damages the environment. We have been working with people in the village to help them understand the damage they are doing to their local environment and to help them find alternative ways of working. By bringing our customers to this remote area of Marrakech, we have used the money raised through these excursions to build a school for 25 local children. |
